Convention delegates of the recently completed CLC Convention took a major step toward making the new gym construction project a reality. Floor Committee #5 on Immanuel Lutheran College responded to the Building Committee report with the following resolutions which were all passed by the Convention floor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
RESOLVED<\/strong> that the Convention directs the Board of Trustees to open the Church Extension Fund (CEF) for additional promissory notes to raise $7 million; and be it further<\/p>\n\n\n\n RESOLVED<\/strong> that the Convention approves a loan of up to $7 million from the CEF for the ILC Gymnasium, once the Board of Trustees has determined that the funds are available; and be it further<\/p>\n\n\n\n RESOLVED<\/strong> <\/strong>that the ILC Gymnasium Publicity Committee will actively make these needs known to the church body to achieve the level of funding needed to begin construction; and be it finally<\/p>\n\n\n\n RESOLVED<\/strong> that we reaffirm that the ILC Building Committee should proceed with construction as soon as possible, once the necessary funding is secured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just what do these mean for the gym project? Twelve years ago it was deemed wise to stop accepting promissory loan notes to the Church Extension Fund (CEF). The first Resolution above again makes it possible for CLC members to loan money to the CEF to support the gym building project. The Building Committee Chairman summarizes below what these resolutions mean to the project and provides ways members can support the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0Gym Project Continues to Move Forward<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The CLC Convention voted to raise the approved Church Extension Fund (CEF) loan amount for the new gymnasium from $3M to $7M. In passing the resolutions they\u00a0did, the Convention not only removed all doubt that we are moving forward, but provided an opportunity for the members of the CLC to show their support.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
1) Pray<\/strong>! Ask the Lord to bless this project and move hearts to share the wealth he has already provided us – not just the hearts of others but also our own.
2) Consider loaning available money to the CEF<\/strong>. Loans will again be accepted into the CEF until the $7M is received. You can choose your rate of interest (up to 2.5%). \u00a0The CLC Board of Trustees will be sending out information in the coming days on how to lend money to the CEF for the Gymnasium Project.
3) Contribute to the ILC Building Fund<\/strong>. In addition to funds loaned to the CEF, we need $1M in additional contributions and investment earnings to begin construction.
4) Consider bequests <\/strong>to the ILC Building Fund as part of your estate planning.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
